Deidre R. Ellis' Obituary
Ellis, Deidre R. 63, of Broken Arrow, OK, beloved mother and wife journeyed into eternal life where she was embraced by her loving husband, Phillip James on Monday, June 20, 2011. She was born August 30, 1947 in Tulsa, OK and raised by her mother Cora Agnes'Tiny' McDonald and father Harry McDonald. Deidre graduated from Thomas A. Edison High School in 1965 and attended Northeastern State University, where she was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha. After a whirlwind romance, she married her husband in 1967 and moved to Kansas City. They returned to the Tulsa area in 1999. Deidre was a member of Boston Avenue United Methodist Church, member of Johnson County Young Matrons, 2011 Honorary Mayor of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma's 2010 Individual Achievement winner as Broken Arrow Beautification Committee chairperson and earned numerous other awards and accolades. She was known for her generosity, tireless work ethic, loving heart and compassion. She enjoyed volunteering, gardening, traveling, reading and being a constant gracious hostess, but above all she was known as a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Deidre will be greatly missed by everyone she touched, especially her children, grandchildren, family and dear friends. Deidre is survived by her daughters Andrea Moore and fiancé Jason Lewis of Ashland, MO, Amber Ellis Mahle, and son-in-law Bennett Mahle of Virginia Beach, VA; 4 grandchildren Ian, Ciara, Maddisen and Libby; sisters, Willie Jones of Skiatook, OK, Phoebe Mancino of Broken Arrow, OK; and numerous nieces and nephews. Deidre was preceded in death by her mother, Cora Agnes; and her loving husband Phillip James Ellis. A memorial service will be held at Boston Avenue United Methodist Church, Rose Chapel, 13th and Boston, Tulsa, OK on Monday, June 27th at 11 a.m. A private inurnment will be at Memorial Park.
