Delmer and Joan were my across the street neighbors for nearly 30 years. The best neighbors, and finest people anyone could ask for. I will truly miss my friend and pal, Delmer Wood. One of the funniest and smartest gentlemen I have ever met. Always quick with a smile and funny story.Delmer just hated the black cat I owned when I first moved to the neighborhood. Said it brought him bad luck. He would drive around the block in the opposite direction to avoid crossing my cat's path. One evening he was standing in his driveway when I drove home. When I opened my garage door my German Shepherd raced out of my garage and chased the black cat up a tree near Delmer's driveway…nearly catching her. Delmer stood there quietly watching for moment, and with a wry smile turned to me and said "I would feed your dog for life if she would catch that darn cat". Such funny guy!.I loved hearing his race car engines roar as he was tuning up to go racing. And to see his newest acquisition….always gleaming with a lot of chrome and` shiny new paint. Delmer was indeed "one of a kind". A tough competitor, but a kind and gentle man, that I will never forget.Rest in peace my friend. My deepest sympathy to my friend Joan, Tony, and the Wood family. May the good lord bring you comfort in this time of loss.Best WishesDan Dyer
