Delores Jean Gulley's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Delores Jean Gulley
Delores Jean Gulley, affectionately known as Dee, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 85. Born on September 19, 1938, in Tulsa, OK, Dee was the daughter of Jim Wiggins and Mary Ann Boyd. On March 25, 1961, she married the love of her life, Clyde William Gulley, in Miami, OK.
Dee's life was marked by service and dedication. She began her journey by enlisting in the Air Force after graduating from high school in Fort Smith, Arkansas, serving as an Airman Basic at the Stuart Air Force Base in New York. Later, she pursued her passion for beauty by attending beauty school and maintaining a beauty shop in her home, a tradition she upheld throughout her life.
Her career path led her to work as an aide in various hospitals, where she developed a deep appreciation for the caregivers who later tended to her during her time in hospice. Dee also showcased her remarkable skills as a dispatcher for trucking companies in the Tulsa area, renowned for her ability to navigate without ever making a left turn, a testament to her sharp mind and resourcefulness.
Outside of work, Dee found joy in nurturing her beloved gardens and meticulously maintaining her yard, with a special fondness for pink flowers. She was an avid genealogist, passionately researching her family's history and diligently expanding her family tree with each new addition.
Dee was a bold and vibrant spirit in this world, never meeting a stranger. She will be forever missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Dee is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Gulley, her parents, Jim and Mary Ann Wiggins, her brothers, Jimmie Ray Wiggins and Edward Leon Wiggins, and her sister, Jo Ann Benight.
