Dennis Lee Halvorsen's Obituary
Dennis Lee Halvorsen, 69, with a zest for life and unparalled love for his sons and grandson passed away, October 28, 2017, in Tulsa, OK. Dennis was born March 23, 1948, in Independence, MO, to Harry and Geneva (Rebel) Halvorsen. He graduated from VanHorn High School in Independence, MO. He was a retired Iron Worker. Against his own values, he answered when his country called. Dennis served in the US Marine Corp. in Japan during the Vietnam War. He was part of the revolution and never gave up his hippy values. Music was extremely important to him and he shared this passion with his children. Dad’s passion for music led him to Cain’s ballroom where he partied with Eric Clapton in early 1970s.He had an infectious smile and always loved to giggle. He had a soft spot for humanity, always willing to help others even to his own peril. Dennis is survived by sons: Steve Halvorsen and Dillon Halvorsen of Tulsa; grandson: Joel Halvorsen of Madill, OK; daughter in-law: Erica Halvorsen; siblings: Barbara Mallard, Susie Harms and Neil Halvorsen of Independence MO; plus many nephews; other extended family; and many friends.He was preceded in death by Jeff Halvorsen (brother) and parents Harry and Geneva Halvorsen.Arrangements were entrusted to Floral Haven Funeral Home.
