Way too many memories. But I’ll share one that really opened my eyes. I had other jobs before but there was a certain honor and prestige that came with being one of the ”The Guys From Piz!” Pizano’s gave me brothers for life! Oh…and a pesky little sister named Lena!😉 So these brothers, well, they liked to party. Sometimes we over indulged to say the least. After showing up for work needing to keep a wet towel on my hungover head, Dennis took me to the side and asked me if I knew how to play baseball. I thought and responded “of course I do.” Then he said “good…so you know what happens if you get three strikes?” I replied “yes…you’re out.” He smiled that big smile and said “son…you have two strikes!” That’s all it took to get me focused. I never wanted to let him down and definitely didn’t want strike three! Knowing him to be the father figure he was to me…and all the guys…and knowing he accepted the role, I think he would’ve given me strike two and a half…and two and three quarters…and so on. Dennis taught me how to be a man and how to be responsible for myself. He truly was a father to me. Life pulled us all in different directions, but he always had a special place in my heart, as do Alana and Lena. I wouldn’t have made it in this world without the Mileto family. Love you guys and rest peacefully Dennis!
My favorite memories with Dad are our fishing trips and the times we spent cooking and baking our favorite Italian family recipes together. When I close my eyes, I see his big, silly, cheesy grin, and it always makes me smile. What I admired most about him was his huge, generous heart and deep compassion for all living things. He had an incredible gift—whether it was creating a delicious new recipe or transforming something with his craftsmanship, he could take a vision in his mind and bring it beautifully to life.
Dad was a strong man who never quit, and he truly never met a stranger. He left a lasting impression on everyone who crossed his path, and I’ve never known another person with so much love to give. I feel incredibly blessed to have shared 54 amazing years with my precious dad—my best friend. Thank you, Papa, for your love, your protection, and your example. You will be dearly missed, but I know in my heart you are still watching over us. We will be together again someday. I love you, Papa!
I am so very sorry for your loss. May his love for you guide you through these tough times. His spirit will continue to live on in our hearts and memories.
