Dennis "Mike" Shay's Obituary
Dennis Michael "Mike" Shay, 73 of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed from this life on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at his home in Tulsa. He was born December 9, 1947 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to his parents, John Wesley Shay and Lora Maxine Murray Shay. Mike graduated from Nathan Hale High School and joined the Marine Corp. After boot camp in San Diego, CA, he was stationed on Oahu, HI. He worked part-time at Mid-Pacific Country Club in Kailua were he met his future wife, Sandra Dee Faber. Mike and Sandi were married on July 19, 1969 in Kailua, Hawaii. The couple moved to Oklahoma later that year. On March 20, 1974 they welcomed their daughter Shannon Michelle. A few years later they welcomed their son, Paul Michael, on December 3, 1976. Mike and Sandi have shared in over 51 years making wonderful memories together.
Mike started Tulsa Trucking as an owner/operator in 1975. He incorporated the business, and renamed it to Shay & Shay, Inc in 1998. He and his wife ran the business until they closed it May, 2020. Mike was very customer focused and went over and above to support his customers.
Mike is survived by his loving wife Sandi Shay of the home; his mother, Lora Shay of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two children, Shannon Davis and her husband Jon of Owasso, Oklahoma and Paul Shay of Tulsa, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Lydia Davis, Ari Davis, Abigail Davis, Dalton Clum-Shay and Vada Clum-Shay; two siblings, Jim Shay and his wife Roberta of Grove, Oklahoma and Becke Hogan and her husband Charles of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; his devoted fur baby, Elvis and many friends and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father, John Shay.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
