Denty Odell Ercanbrack's Obituary
Denty Odell Ercanbrack seventh child of James Franklin and Savilla Ann Ercanbrack, was born June 10, 1924, in Peacable, OK. He went school in Hartshorn, OK. The “great depression” came and he started doing farm work to help the family. In 1940, Denty Odell entered the C.C.C. and was stationed in Colorado. In May 1941, he left the C.C.C. and joined the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA. He was sixteen years old. In WWII, Odell served with “distinction” during the battle of occupying the Russell Islands in 1943.Then he served commendably at Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands by contributing to the to the destruction of enemy aircraft. When he returned from the war in November 1943, he was stationed at El Toro airbase in Santa Ana, CA and Mojave Marine Base, in Barstow, CA. Odell was honorably discharged as a Staff Sargent on October 3, 1945. On August 7, 1944, Odell married Frances Aliene Enloe, fifth child of Claude Joseph and Fannie Pearl Enloe of Pittisburg, OK in Los Angeles, CA. In 1947, Denty Odell started to work in the oilfields as a rough neck, beginning at Vernal, UT. Over the years he worked in LA, TX, WY, NM, CA, MT, and several countries in South America also Doha, Qatar, Abu Dhabi, and Kirkuk, Iraq in the Persian Gulf . From 1980-1984 he worked in Perth, Australia and retired from the oilfields in 1984 as a Drilling Consultant. In 1960, Odell and Aliene bought their farm in Prague, OK. They raised cattle and farmed in between his oilfield work. On May 21, 1993, Denty Odell was baptized into the Church of Christ by Don Jackson in Seminole, OK. In 2002 they sold their farm and moved to Broken Arrow, OK where they lived with their daughter Ladell Click when his beloved wife, Aliene passed away in July of 2013. Odell then moved back to the country and lived with his youngest daughter Tessa Ercanbrack, where he passed away peacefully on March 5, 2018. To this union two daughters were born, Ladell Click and Tessa Ercanbrack. Four grandchildren and their spouses Patricia & Ron Harmon, Lisa & Hollis Allen, Donald Ellison, Christie & Michael Fancher. Three great grandchildren, Lexis D. and Jordan R. Allen and Brooklynn R. Fancher. Graveside Services will be 1:00 PM, Friday, March 9, 2018 at Chambers Cemetery.
