Derek was a very passionate person, generous with his time and loving advice. He was distinguished and honorable; as a coworker put it, Derek would literally give the shirt off his back if he felt you needed the shirt.
Derek loved the outdoors as a child growing up in Tulsa, OK. He was active in sports, soccer, baseball, wrestling, track and cross country. He played recreationally as well as organized sports.
Derek and his identical twin brother swapped classes at least once per year in school from their 5th grade year all the way up to their freshman year in college. They never got caught and when they admitted to their 10th grade English teacher that they had switched places in her class (Mrs. Delored Arrowood) she didn’t believe them.
No services have been planned at this time, but a celebration of life and remembrance will be upcoming for family, friends and loved ones to join.
