DeWayne Lawhead's Obituary
DeWayne Curtis Lawhead, 48 of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma passed away suddenly from an automobile accident on Friday, May 22, 2020 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was born July 10, 1971 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to his parents, Billie Edward Lawhead and Phyliss Parnell Lawhead Williams. He married the love of his life, Amy Jenness Barclay on February 8, 2003 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and they shared in over 19 wonderful years together.
Summing DeWayne in words is impossible, but here are a few thoughts: fiercely loyal, a Ride or Die friend, he was the person you could Always count on, pyromaniac, he loved hard, he was the guy you could call if you needed to “bury a dead body”, never met a stranger, his laugh was recognizable, he wanted to be freed from his demons and never gave up on trying, cherished his wife and he loved his daughter to the moon and back.
He lived his life with the philosophy, “Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.”
DeWayne is survived by his loving wife, Amy Lawhead of the home; three daughters, Reanna "Poncho" Lawhead of the home; Ashley Kahn of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Nicole Ellis of Tulsa, Oklahoma; five siblings, Dale Lawhead of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Ronnie Lawhead and wife Donna of Afton, Oklahoma, Rhonda Baldwin and husband Richard of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Tammy McQuillen of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Angela Stabler of Claremore, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; two nieces, Danyel McQuillen of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Christina Stabler of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one nephew, Anthony Stabler of Claremore, Oklahoma; In-Laws, Pam and Steve Hurst of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Bill and Shirley Barclay of Carrollton, Georgia; and many friends and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents.
