Dewey Hess' Obituary
Service honoring and remembering the life of Dewey Ray Hess will be held at Floral Haven Cemetery in the Rose Garden Chapel at 11:00AM on Monday, June 10, 2019. Born Feb. 26th, 1938 in Tulsa, Okla., Dewey was the son of Rev. Coy Evert Hess and Ruby Marie (Holmes) Hess. Dewey was a 7 mth baby and his mother said he was so small he would fit in a shoe box. Dewey was raised in a Christian home with three other siblings. He was a mischievous and happy go lucky child which everyone loved to be around. Dewey was very athletic, competitively participating in track, baseball and basketball programs at Morris & Commerce Okla High Schools. Dewey would have graduated High School in 1956 but left school as a Jr. to help his father care for the family. Dewey pursued a career as a Barber attending Tulsa Barber College in Tulsa. His career lasted 61 years during that time he owned several Barber Shops in the Tulsa and West Tulsa areas. He was very dedicated to all his customers, always gave special attention to their appearance and how he served them. Dewey was active with Bowling leagues and competed on different teams for 30 years. He also enjoyed doing mechanical work for the racing teams at the Tulsa speedway. Born with a gift for music he could play any musical instrument he came across and being a Christian and raised in a Christian home he was a great asset to the church playing the piano or guitar. He was a gifted and talented man that could work with nearly all forms of carpentry, plumbing and mechanics. His grand-children have always said there is nothing Papa couldn’t fix or build. Dewey and Mary Ann met on a blind date arranged by her cousin Johnny Hayes and was married a year later, Johnny now lives in California with his wife JoAnn. Dewey married the love of his life Mary Ann (Farrell) Hess on November 22, 1958. They were blessed with 2 beautiful daughters, Jeanine Koch-Stauffer and Tara Donette Hamilton and one Son John Scott Hess (deceased). He had lots of laughs and fun with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spent many hours traveling and enjoying Life. Needless to say, he was always happy and smiling. Surviving family members include his wife MaryAnn Hess, their daughters Jeanine (Hess) Stauffer and her husband John David Stauffer, Tara (Hess) Hamilton and her husband John David Hamilton, Grandchildren: Cody Alan Koch, Crystal Dawn (Koch) White and her husband Mario White, Colt Alan Koch and his wife Trinity Koch, Jessica Tye (Hamilton) Talbert and her husband Brad Lee Talbert, Jocelyn Michelle (Hamilton) Becker and her husband Donny Lee Becker. Three great grand-children: Terrin Elizabeth White, Talon Trent White, Emmitt Brooks Talbert, and another on the way!! Sisters: Deanna (Hess) Yarbrough and husband Bill Yarbrough, Sally Marie (Hess) Wood , Brother: Valvert Franklin Hess (Deceased) and wife Pam Hess. Nephews: Steven Turman and wife Debbie Turman, Donnie Hess and wife Pam Hess, Monte Hess and wife Malissa Hess, Mark Wood and wife Belinda Wood, Nieces: Rebecca Meisinger, Valerie (Hess) Naiman and husband Shawn Naiman, Tina (Wood) Zollaris and husband Morgan Zollaris, Lynn Wood, and numerous great nieces and nephews. Other extended family: Ann & Jerry BaileyThe Family would like to acknowledge their heart felt thanks for all the continued love and support and prayers during this difficult time. Dewey was the greatest husband and father, loving, kind and gentle man and words can not express how much he will be missed. Graveside services will be at Floral Haven memorial Gardens of The Last Supper. Lunch will be served at the Family Center immediately after graveside service.
