Dewey L. Holkum Jr.'s Obituary
Dewey “Dude” Lee Holkum Jr., 84, of Broken Arrow, entered Heaven’s gates on July 28, 2017. Born January 17, 1933 to Dewey “Dude” Lee Sr. and Florence Good Holkum in Roff, Oklahoma. Dewey attended Gorham Rural High School in Gorham, Kansas and graduated in 1952. He and his brother, Don, entered the Air Force together where he served his country for four years as an Airman 1st Class and fought in the Korean war. He was honorably discharged in 1956.He married Sylvia Mae Hunt on March 1, 1963. They celebrated 36 years of life and marriage together until her passing in 1999. Dewey worked as a fitter/welder at McDonnell Douglas in Tulsa, Oklahoma and retired after more than 30 years.He enjoyed life, his family and sports including Nascar racing and OKC Thunder basketball. He loved watching old western movies, reading, sharing his life stories and always making everyone laugh. His family meant everything to him. He will always be remembered as a loyal husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa, brother and friend. Dewey will greatly be missed by all who knew him.Dewey is survived by his children; Debbie Cloud of Haskell, Bill Minix & wife Lisa of Tulsa, Dewey Holkum III & wife Vicki of Broken Arrow and Stacy Holkum of Broken Arrow, grandchildren; Jason, Jaime, Tarrah, Travis, Amanda, Cade and Kynleigh, great grandchildren; Jacie, Dawsen, Hadley, Sawyer, Harper, Isla and Arlo. Also survived by his sisters; Patsy, Peggy and brother Don, along with many nieces, nephews and other family members Preceded in death by his wife Sylvia Holkum and daughter Connie RingFuneral service will be held at 12:30 PM on August 3, 2017 at Floral Haven Chapel. Visitation at 9:00 AM on August 2, 2017 at Floral Haven Family Center. Burial will follow the service at Floral Haven in Fields of Honor..
