Diana Lynn Smothermon's Obituary
Diana Smothermon, 68, of Broken Arrow, passed away on 10/25/2024 in the comfort of her home. Diana was born on January 28, 1956, to Francis and William Johnston in North Highlands, California.
Diana grew up with her parents and nine siblings in California. This is where she first developed her love for animals and people. Diana loved to share stories of her parent’s love for their children and fellow neighbors. In her free time, she enjoyed water sports, riding in her jeep, affectionately named Big Red, and participating in the local Miss North Highlands Pageant, which she won her junior year in 1973.
While living in North Highlands, Diana met her husband, Bryan Smothermon. After several years of dating, they were married on 8/8/1974. Brian and Diana recently celebrated their 50th anniversary.
Together they had their first child, Justin in October 1976, followed by Derek in October 1977, Melissa in April 1982, and Joseph in October 1985. Diana and Bryan also raised their grandson, Trenton, beginning when he was only a few months old in 1998.
Diana and Bryan moved to Oklahoma where they continued raising their family. Diana worked in the food industry until 1999, when she was forced to stop working due to a medical disability. After leaving the work force, Diana dedicated her time to her children and her grandchildren.
Diana was a loving mother and everyone’s biggest cheerleader. She is known for her remarkable sense of humor. She also had a feisty and opinionated personality that kept people laughing. Diana was fiercely protective of her family and always had your back! She loved plants, flowers, and the garden that her and Bryan saw come to life in their front and back yard. They spent many days out back watching hawks, squirrels, hummingbirds, and rabbits.
Diana also raised several animals, many strays, throughout the year. Her most recent companion, Kelsie (a foster fail), whom she had for the past 13 years joined her in Heaven one week after her passing.
Most will fondly remember Diana for her beautiful smile, kind heart, and sense of humor.
Diana is survived by her loving husband, Bryan, her three sons, daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, daughter-in-love, 12 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all.
The Smothermon/Johnson family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and donations during this challenging time.
