Diane Evans Henson's Obituary
Diane Evans Henson, 75 of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma passed from this life on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at her home. She was born on November 23, 1946, in Little Rock, Arkansas to George Melton Dickens and Ida Mae Parker Dickens and grew up with her twin brothers, Dean and Doug, in Booneville, AR.
As a young adult in Arkansas, she became the mother to her three beloved children, Scott, Ashley and J. In 1977 she reluctantly moved to Oklahoma however she grew to love it as her home. While in Oklahoma she fell in love with Daniel Henson, and they built a beautiful life in Broken Arrow over their 40+ years together. Her career was at PepsiCo where she worked for many years in collections and sales and developed many long-term friendships. Losing her mother in 1982 brought her very close to her father and for years she would drive from Broken Arrow to Little Rock every other weekend to spend those days with him. Adventurous and active, she loved to travel especially with her brothers and was not afraid to set off across the globe on her own. She loved spending time with her family and taught all her kids to slalom ski, ride horses, play softball and much more. Shopping for her family and friends was something she enjoyed immensely and generously showering them with gifts brought her great joy. Diane will be remembered by her family and friends as fearless, a fierce and loyal ally, and true friend.
Diane is survived by her loving husband, Daniel Henson of the home; three children, Scott Robinson and his wife Rachel of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Ashley Stone and her husband Doug of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Jodi Garland and her husband Darryl of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her twin brothers, Dr. Doug Dickens and his wife Sherri of Adairsville, Georgia and Dr. Dean Dickens and his wife Karr La of Garland, Texas; seven grandchildren, Riley Evans, Parker Robinson, Max Stone, Jessica Snelson, Christian Williams, Ashley Hemphill and Charles Hemphill, Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Gracie Ringgold, Preslea Drake and Christian Williams, Jr.; and many friends and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ida Mae Dickens; one son, Jeptha "J" Evans; one stepdaughter, Dana Darlene Hemphill; and a granddaughter, Summer Lenn Hemphill.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Floral Haven's Funeral Home Chapel.
