Dixie Lee O'Bar's Obituary
Dixie Lee O’Bar of Tulsa, died on January 2, 2015 at the age of 76. She was born January 15, 1938 to Guy and Lois Strother in Ogallala, Nebraska. She was a loving and devoted Christian lady who served The Lord with unwavering faith. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob O’Bar, and brother, Dan Strother. She is survived by two sisters, LaNell Luthi of Hartwell, Georgia, and Kay Ovitz and husband John of Buffalo, South Dakota; two sons, Stephen Lushenko of Jenks, and Michael Lushenko and wife Diana, of Muskogee; two step-sons, Rob O’Bar, Phillip O’Bar and wife Tabitha of Tulsa; two grandchildren, Guy Lushenko and Madison O’Bar; two nephews, Britt Brown of Dacula, Georgia, and Guy Brown of Lexington, Georgia; and her church family at Victory Christian Center. Dixie started working in the Missions Department at Victory and later transferred to working at the bookstore. It was then that she responded to The Lord’s calling her to the mission field. She began her ministry entitled “Women Doing the Impossible” which led her and other cherished sisters in Christ to countries including Russia, England, Denmark, Ireland, Italy, and Peru. It was Myanmar where she felt the strongest calling and made numerous return trips there, where she helped support Neih and Ruth of the Myanmar Redeemed Children’s Home. Memorial services will be held at Victory Christian Center in the first floor chapel Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. Memorial arrangements are under the direction of Floral Haven Funeral Home and Crematory in Tulsa. In honor of Dixie’s memory, the family requests in lieu of flowers, that any donations be made payable to Women Doing the Impossible, PO Box 416, Sand Springs, OK 74063.
