Donald Eugene Bitzer's Obituary
Donald Bitzer passed away on October 3, 2013 at his home in Coweta, OK at the age of 60. He was born December 29,1952 in Lee Summit, MO and grew up in Tarsney Lake in Oakgrove, MO. Don Bitzer was the youngest child of Mildred Spencer and Edward Bitzer. He graduated from Blue Springs High School (MO) in 1971. On December 12, 1971 Don Bitzer married his wife Roxann Benshoof, with whom they had two children and shared over 40 years of marriage. He was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, brother, brother -in-law, uncle, and father-in-law to his family. Don soon moved with his wife to San Diego, CA for 8 yrs where he served in the U.S. Navy as a pattern maker on the USS Dixie. Later Don and Roxann returned to MO where they raised their family. Don received his Associate’s degree from Long View Community College in Lee Summit, MO. Don enjoyed collecting marbles, fishing with his siblings, playing blackjack, traveling with his family, woodworking, and making everyone laugh. He was a generous supporter of local food banks, as well as Veteran’s and children’s charities. Don was preceded in death by his wife Roxann Bitzer, parents Mildred and Edward Bitzer, and brother Ronnie Bitzer. He is survived by his daughter Jan Murphy and husband Brad of Broken Arrow, son Chad Bitzer and wife Cynthia of Coweta, three grandchildren: Dyllan Bitzer, Joshua Murphy, and Gracie Bitzer; siblings Mildred Mansell, Claudine Lindsey, Edward Bitzer, Tom Bitzer, and Barbara Oxley as well as many niecesnephews. He is also survived by his faithful dog Tess.
