Donald Charles Owen's Obituary
Donald Charles “Don” Owen, 87 passed away on December 4th, in Tulsa, Oklahoma following complications from a stroke. Don is survived by his wife of 66 years, Margaret Jones (Marty), his 3 children, Terri (Oscar) Wantiez, Kirk Owen and Vicki Smart. 3 Grandsons, Dustyn Owen, Travis Smart, Parker Smart. Don worked for NCR Corporation for 34 years in Sales Management. He loved having a cash register full of coins for his grandsons. Family and friends meant so much to Don; he was a people person who loved to talk, dance and listen to good music. Don’s hobbies included playing golf, playing cards and especially closing the deal on the 19th hole at Meadowlake Golf Course in Enid, Oklahoma. Marty and Don especially loved going to Amarillo, Texas for the Tee Par Tee golf tournament every year with Uncle Leo. An avid fan of college football, Don especially loved following OU, OSU and TU. A graduate of Tulsa University, Don served in the Air Force, which allowed him to go to college and provide for our family. We are so proud of him and will love and miss him greatly. Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Friday, December 9, 2016, at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. Visitation will be 10:00 am to 8:00 pm Thursday, December 8, 2016. Family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00. In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Memory of Don.
