Donald "Don" E. Harris' Obituary
Donald E. Harris went home to be with our Lord last Friday night. He was born January 30,1930 in Coldwater, Missouri to Vander Eason Harris & Delpha Jane Thompson Harris. He was the 7th of 8 children. Don loved life & was a true sanguine, optimistic, cheerful & hopeful. He is survived by his wife Julie Lutz Harris and daughter Sheri Harris, of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by a sister Mary Sue Slinkard, (husband Gene) Senath, Missouri, brother-in-laws Tommy Buck and WR Singleton, and many nieces, nephews and family members. Don attended the University of Missouri and served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He was employed by DX Oil Company in Springfield, Illinois and transferred to Tulsa in 1968. He was involved in Toastmasters. He retired from Farmer’s Insurance as an Independent Agent, and in his volunteer years he was a 55 Alive Driving Safety Course Instructor, and later appointed Marketing Coordinator for AARP, statewide. He was a member of Victory Christian Center and a member of the Men’s Group. He also participated in Promise Keepers. A Memorial Service will be held 12:30 PM Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
