Donald Gene Hardy's Obituary
Hardy – Donald Gene, 64, passed away Tuesday at home with family after a tragic battle with cancer. Born December 24, 1940 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Louis and Marie Hardy, he spent his early childhood in Stigler, Oklahoma and moved with his parents and sister to Broken Arrow in 1953. He graduated from Broken Arrow High School in 1958. Working nights as a dispatcher at the Broken Arrow Police Department, he attended the University of Tulsa by day and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration in 1965. While in college he also served in the Oklahoma Air National Guard. He spent nearly 40 years working as a financial comptroller and made lasting friends at each of his career stops. He was a devoted sports lover, coaching little league soccer, basketball, and baseball; officiating high school football; attending the University of Tulsa home basketball and football games for more than four decades. He was preceded in death by his mother and father.He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years Peggy, his children Teresa and Michael, his grandchildren Tanner and Tyler, his sister Linda, his aunt Betty, his cherished extended family, and by numerous friends and colleagues who have treasured his sharp intellect and wise counsel.Services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the Broken Arrow Church of the Nazarene. Donation in his memory can be made to the Don Hardy Fund at the University of Tulsa.Survived By: his beloved wife of 38 years Peggy, his children Teresa and Michael, his grandchildren Tanner and Tyler, his sister Linda, his aunt Betty, his cherished extended family, and by numerous friends and colleagues who have treasured his sharp intellect and wise counsel.
