Olson, Donald Gordon's Obituary
Donald “Don” Olson, 90 of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma passed from this life on Monday, January 15, 2025, at home with his, daughters, by his side. He was born January 13, 1935, in Wagoner, Oklahoma to his parents, Elizabeth Wilson Olsen and Carl Marius Olsen who were married February 21, 1917, and immigrated from Europe to NY then Wagoner. He grew up in Wagoner, OK the youngest of four children. Don graduated from Wagoner high school in 1953. Don was an Aerospace Medical Specialist physician assistant in the Air Force and deployed from Tinker Air Force Base to Okinawa in 1956. He was married at the age of 25 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma June 24, 1960, to his wife Jan aged 21. Don and Jan enjoyed bowling, dominos, New Year’s celebrations, Friday night dinners and numerous anniversary celebrations with their lifelong church friends at Sequoiah Hills Baptist church, later joining congregation of Southwood Baptist church where he was a member. Don worked 33 years for American Airlines and retired early at age 55. As a family, benefiting from American Airlines flights they enjoyed travel to Hawaii, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Florida, Acapulco. As a couple they also traveled to many destinations across the country to visit relatives. With his wife Jan, he was a devoted Oklahoma Sooner “OU” fan and had season tickets to OU games for fifty years. Don was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching football, basketball, and baseball. Don and Jan traveled to watch major league games St Louis Cardinals, and San Francisco Giants. Don is survived by three daughters, Cynthia “Cindy” Olson of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma Dawn Browne of Bixby, Oklahoma and Elizabeth “Beth” Olson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two granddaughters, Whitney Collins Wold and husband Jevon Wold of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Alexandria “Alex” Browne of Tulsa, Oklahoma; many nieces, nephews, friends, caring neighbors, and beloved pets Beau Jingles, Bentley, Big-eyed Bailey and Big Tiger. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Jan; his parents Elizabeth and Carl; his sister Betty; his brothers Raymond and Bob. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Floral Haven Funeral Home. Chapel Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Floral Haven officiated by Pastor Rodney James. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
