Donald Raymond Schlack's Obituary
Donald Raymond Schlack was born on July 29th, 1965, to Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schlack. Donals was born in California. His family returned to Oklahoma where he lived with his father and 2 brothers, Bob and Virgil, nearby in Collinsville, Oklahoma.
Susan Howard met Donald in 1992 when the Association for Direct Care Trainers, Inc. became his DDSD provider agency.
Donald was the baby of the boys. At one time, Donald resided in the Hissom Memorial Center State School. Donald’s early habilitation training was in California.
Donald was a very very smart man. He was unable to speak, but he was a great communicator. I think it frustrated Donald at times because people underestimated his ability because he could not speak. He was always tuned in, alert, and aware of what was going on. He laughed, listened, and found favor with all who crossed his path.
Donald was a great friend to his roommates Lee, Charles, and Brandon.
Donald demonstrated his faith. He was baptized and has been a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Sapulpa. All the church members have loved and supported Donald throughout the last 25 years.
Donald was preceded in glory by his mom and dad, two brothers, and sister-in-law Pam. But Donald has known the love of extended family through his caregivers, Guardian, community friends, church members, and service professionals. Virgil’s best friend, Mike McFarland, has been a faithful advocate for Donald for 16 years now.
Donald was a rich man because of his faith, family, friends, and the love we all have for him.
