Donald Robert Stern, Sr.'s Obituary
Donald "Don" Robert Stern, Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on April 17, 2024, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 91. Born on January 3, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York, Don lived a life filled with love, service, and dedication.
During his high school years, Don met the love of his life, Irene Ebert, and their bond endured for an incredible 69 years of marriage. Together, they raised three children and created a legacy of enduring love and commitment. Throughout their life together, Don could always be found holding Irene's hand, a testament to their unwavering devotion.
Don proudly served his country as an Air Force veteran during the Korean War, demonstrating courage and patriotism. After his military service, he embarked on a successful career, working first at American Airlines and then dedicating 37 years of his life to Getty Oil Company.
In addition to his professional achievements, Don had a passion for sports and enjoyed the timeless melodies of Frank Sinatra and other artists. His zest for life and love for his family were evident in every moment he shared with them.
Don is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of his beloved wife, Irene Stern; his children, Don Stern and his wife Pam, Bob Stern and his wife Lisa, and Kerry Dukinfield and her husband David; his grandchildren, Emily Keller and her husband Jake, Lou Dukinfield, Eddie Stern and his wife Ryan, Joey Stern and his wife Emily, Teddy Stern, and Vollen Stern; his great-grandchildren, Drew Stern, Daivy Stern, Ruby Keller, and June Keller; as well as other cherished family members and friends.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024, from 1PM-7PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. A funeral service to honor Don’s remarkable life will take place on Monday, April 22, 2024, at 3PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, followed by burial at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
Don's kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the eternal love of those he held dear.
