Donna Mae DeBusk's Obituary
Donna Mae DeBusk passed away on September 6, 2020 following a brief intestinal illness. She was 75 years old.
Donna was born the tenth child to William Arthur and Mabel Ann Howell on June 28, 1945 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She was a spirited girl by her own account, and enjoyed playing with the McCoy’s and going to matinees and church.
Donna married at a young age, moved to Elgin and had two daughters. She became a skilled homemaker, and faithfully raised her girls in the local Baptist Churches. After building a new home in Tulsa, Donna began working in a Pharmacy. She later remarried, had another daughter and relocated to Broken Arrow for their education.
While raising her family, Donna worked nights as a St. Francis Hospital Nurse and studied during the day at Tulsa Community College, graduating with her Associate’s Degree in Nursing. She remained at St. Francis in Labor & Delivery for the rest of her career.
Donna managed time for landscaping, gardening, reading, and trips to Grand Lake and California. Her favorite trips were to Okmulgee to be with her mother, watching people out the window and visiting with every relative dropping by.
Donna remained in Tulsa during her retirement years, opening her heart and home to every family member in need. She loved time spent with her grandchildren, lunch and movies with her daughters, and keeping in touch on Facebook. She was a cheerleader to many and generously shared her laughter and sense of humor.
Donna is predeceased by her parents, by her siblings Wiley Phillips, Doris and Elmer Hathaway, Donald Lee Howell, Charles Howell and Leland Howell, by her daughter and son-in-law Johanna Kay and H.K. Speed, and by her former husbands Dwight Lamb and Gary DeBusk.
Donna is survived by her siblings and in-laws Ray Howell, June and Don Cole, Margarette and Charles Gadberry, Miles and Gloria Howell, and dozens of nieces and nephews. She was closest to her daughters LeeAnna Lamb and Deanette Noble, grandchildren Niccole and Taylor Ferguson, Katessa Noble, and Jackson Noble and delighted in her great granddaughter Charlotte Ferguson.
