Donna Lou Horsley's Obituary
Donna Lou Horsley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, completed her Earthly mission on February 2, 2017. She has gone to meet her Lord and Savior. Donna served our country as an Officer in the U.S. Army as a nurse. Later, she worked in the newborn/neonatal nursery at Hillcrest Hospital. She was an infant teacher/school nurse at Bethany Community Preschool and was a nurse at Laureate Psych Hospital. Donna had the heart of a servant. She volunteered at the Red Cross. She was a camp nurse at Sunset Bible Camp. Donna was a Club Scout leader, Camp Fire Girl helper and a proud Band Mom. Most importantly, Donna was a woman of God and a dedicated Prayer Warrior. Donna enjoyed reading. She liked Christian books and inspirational books. She liked sending cards filled with words of encouragement to people, and listening to gospel music. Donna always joked God didn’t mind if she was a “little” off key when she would sing along. She loved horses and raising collies; enjoyed McDonald’s coffee and visiting with her long time neighbors and special friends, Linda Dee Swift (almost 50 years of friendship and being neighbors) and Sharon Murphy Tommey (40 years of friendship and being neighbors). She loved the Shawnee Forest (Ohio), her home town, Portsmouth, Ohio and her church, Bixby Christian Church, where she was a longtime member. Donna cherished being a mother to her three children: Wade, Dawn and Danny. She loved being a “Grammer’ to her two grandchildren: Catherine and Matthew. She thought her grandchildren “hung the moon”. She enjoyed going to their activities and spending time with them.
