Donna Jean Snider's Obituary
Donna Jean Snider, 75, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away Friday night, November 26th, 2021. She was cared for in her final days by her devoted husband, Alan, in the warmth and comfort of their home.
Donna Snider – Dutch to her husband, and Mom to her children – was born on June 24th, 1946 in Tulsa, OK, to Alma Kathleen Silver. The youngest of three daughters, and the third child of six, Donna would grow up between California, Texas, Oklahoma, and Missouri, where her family settled in 1963. Upon graduating from Lafayette High School in 1964, she married Alan Clyde Snider, a Senior Airman in the United State Air Force, and would be an Air Force wife and mother until his retirement and transition to civilian life in 1989.`
While her husband served, she also served: as a military wife, as a member of the Montgomery, AL Police Department, the United States Air Force Family Services and the Weather Wives Club. Additionally, in 1986 she was selected as the Family Services Volunteer of the Year and then was nominated for the Joan Orr Air Force Wife of the Year. While she occasionally worked part time in these and other occupations, she remained a dedicated wife and mother (her lifelong dream), raising two sons who served in the Navy and Air Force, respectively, before pursuing civilian careers and the ministry.
When her husband retired from civilian work in 2003, they made their home in Tulsa, living near Shadow Mountain, where they made dear friends and good neighbors.
Donna loved the Bible, and spent much of her last several years reading it daily with Alan. She was dedicated to her family and as such she passed from this life, trusting in the Lord and loving her family.
Donna is preceded in death by her mother, Alma, and her step-father Charlie; her sisters, Dorothy Anne and Janet Kay. She is survived by her husband, Alan; her sons Trevor and Richard; her daughters-in-law, Sarah and Renae; her grandchildren Lindsay and Cierra; and her brothers William Allen, Michael, and Patrick.
In celebration of her life, a memorial service will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church in Tulsa, OK at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 2nd.
