This last week my mind has been flooded with memories of our great family. Though my heart hurts more than any words can describe, I now more than ever in my life can say and find comfort in knowing I'll see my family again. Used to those words would upset me.. I didn't want to wait. But recentley a friend said, he truly believes when they reach heaven not only is there no more pain, but they can't recall the pain they had. Its nothing but happiness. And to think about the poem mom read, how he was greeted by all our family- that truly brings me comfort and I rejoice for him. I want to be the kind of person my Uncle Donnie was- drawing people close and loving them, I believe his love and exceptance for people was his ministry. He was courageous and he loved well. He touched many lives with his kindness, and I believe one of the ways we can honor him is to reach out and love people the way he did, pass on the kindness, love and exceptance he showed all of us. Uncle Donnie, I miss you like crazy and love you always.
To the Griffith Family,My thoughts and prayers go out to you. I remember being at the Griffith house as a child, and will always remember Donnie, and all the Griffith family.May peace and blessings be with you all at this time. With my deepest sympathy.
Kim, James, Christie, Norvella and kidsYou are all in my thoughts and prayers and I love you.
Kim, Norvella, James & Christy: I am sorry for your great loss and have been thinking of some great memories we all shared. The weekends while our parents played "shoot the moon" and we hung out, going out to eat and hoping they would pick Casa Bonita instead of Western Sizzlin. James eating like 13 cheese enchiladas plus what was on his plate! The band practices in our garage, I loved to hear Donnie sing. It was cool the few times Donnie picked me and Kim up from school in the "Guys" truck! Donnie taking us papering on one of Kim's birthdays with that shredded paper dad got from his building! And one time when I was spending the night him scaring us to death with a mask. The trips to Wayne and the Branson vacation in the "Boat" motel. The many weekends at Keystone Lake. I could go on and on but I just want you to know I love you all and pray God gives you peace and comfort during this time, and also to his grandkids, whom he thought the world of.Aunt Marlene, Rita and the rest of the family. My heart hurts for you all for the void you must be feeling. I am praying God gives you strength and helps you remember all the great times with Donnie as well as Ronnie and Judy. What great loss this family has seen over the last few years but what a great family that has so many wonderful memories to cherish and hold onto. I love you all!
My first memories of Donnie was as a child, him sitting in our den playing his guitar and singing. I thought he was an amazing singer and loved it when he sang songs like Kaw-Liga, Crystal Chandelier and so many others. Sherri and I spent many weekends with Donnie and Norvella, I remember thinking how special it was for them to spend time with us. We were really lucky when his friends came over and they would play and sing. As we grew older we shared some of the best times of our lives with friends and family when Donnie and the band came to Purcell and would play in someones garage or backyard, there would be so many people show up and we would dance into the morning hours. Then we started following the band as they became "The Tulsa Gamblers". They brought so much joy to everyone who heard them. Mike and I treasure the memories of those wonderful times and think of them often. We were so lucky to have you as an Uncle, you will always have a place in our hearts. You will be missed.
