Doris Jean Gale's Obituary
Doris Jean Gale, 89, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015. Doris graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City where she and her friends used to go to the local skating rink. That is where she and Jack met on a blind date and married 5 years later on August 17, 1946 at Crown Heights Methodist Church in Oklahoma City, Ok. She graduated with a BS degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1947. The family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1962 and have resided there since that time. She was active as a St. Francis Hospital Volunteer for 40 years. Her hobbies included fishing, boating, and she was an avid bridge player. She was a long-time member of Asbury Methodist Church. She and Jack have been actively involved for the past 10 years at the Montereau Retirement Community. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, E.A. (Jack) Gale; a brother Bobby Kolar (Florida) and a sister Wilma Pojezny (Oklahoma City, OK); three children, Bill Gale (Mount Dora, Fl); Ann Chalmers (Frisco, Tx); and David Gale (Tulsa, Ok); four grandchildren, Adrienne Gale Gary and John Gale (Atlanta, Ga), Robert Chalmers and Matt Chalmers (Frisco, Tx); and nine great-children; Jackson Gary, Brooke Gary, David Gary, Elle Chalmers, Beau Chalmers, Zain Chalmers, Laith Chalmers, Christian Gale and Emma Gale.A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 11, 2015, at 2:00 pm at the Montereau Chapel, 6800 Granite Avenue, Tulsa, Ok.In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the Montereau Benevolent Fund.
