Doris Vilmure Hill's Obituary
Doris Vilmure Hill August 28, 1924 – October 7, 2015 Born Girard Tulsa, OKDee, as she was known to her family and friends, and as Anné to her Grandchildren and Greatgrandchildren. She was born in Girard, KS where she and her three siblings, Carol, Richard and Rosalie grew up. She received her normal training for her teacher certificate from Pittsburg State College and worked as a teacher, a profession she thoroughly enjoyed. Her father, Gus took a job that moved them to Southern California when Hollywood was in its heyday. It is there that she met John McLain Hill, the man whom she married. They were blessed with three girls, Martha, Catherine, and Lucinda.John’s career with the US State Department afforded Dee the opportunity to live and travel all over the world from Turkey, to Vietnam, to Bangladesh, and Nepal. Her home was filled with art and hand-made objects from all the places she lived and traveled; evil eyes and copper bowls from Turkey, jewelry and batik prints from Bangladesh. She loved to entertain and was always the gracious host who was never sort on conversation. After John’s un-timely passing in 1986, Dee sold their home in Florence, AL and lived for a brief time in Mexico, New Mexico and Texas before settling in Tulsa, OK. Although she found love again with her dear Roland, he too was called home too soon. Despite the adversities she faced, her faith never wavered.Dee was a true joy and pleasure to be around; she was adored and respected by all those she met. A charismatic and charming woman, she was a deep thinker and was very introspective, always striving to better herself. A truly beautiful lady, inside and out. She was very creative and enjoyed painting bottles and chairs, knitting, making jewelry, sketching and writing. She loved surrounding herself with beautiful things. She loved being around her family! She loved life! Those around her were showered with her statements of appreciation and gratefulness. Everyday, her heart was filled with gratitude as expressed by one of her favorite quotes, “The infinite passion of expectation is found in the trivia of everyday life.”Dee passed away peacefully, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family and constant companion, her sweet dog, Micah. Please heed Dee’s words and Rejoice! Rejoice! Rejoice! For she is home!Dee is survived the by her sister, Rosalie Thompson and her husband Bliss, her daughter and son-in-law Marti and Al Bledsoe, her daughter, Catt LeBaigue, her daughter and son-in-law Cindi and Bob Fries.
