Doris Jean McCumons' Obituary
Doris McCumons was born July 10, 1945 and passed away July 11, 2016. Doris was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. She taught her family what it meant to be kind, loving, and generous. In her lifetime, Doris touched many people’s lives. She treated everyone like family, and her home was always available to anyone who needed love, a hot meal, or a place to sleep. As the matriarch of her family, Doris taught everyone to live like she did: to give without expecting anything in return, to love without condition, and to treat others with respect and compassion. She was a wonderful woman who made it her life goal to make the lives of all of her family members better, easier, and happier. Doris is preceded in death by her mother and father, Chester and Doris “Lavada” Dixon, her younger brother Tommy Joe Dixon, her husband Dennis McCumons, her granddaughter Caitlin Smith, and her great grandson Tyler Davis.She leaves behind daughters Teresa Luke, Sheila Overton, and Cathy McHenry; grandchildren Jason Davis, Tara Davis, Edward Drent, Callison Hutson, Drew Overton, Tommy Joe Hunnicutt and Matthew Overton; brother Charles Dixon and his late wife Cordie, sister Linda Story and her husband Dennis, sister Patty Tramel and her husband Kenneth, and sister Becky Gilliam and her husband Jon; and great grandchildren Ariel Lambeth, Maxim Overton, and Katelyn Davis.
