Doris Ann Norwood's Obituary
Doris Ann Norwood, beloved mother, grandmother, and devoted follower of Christ, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, in Ranger, Texas, surrounded by her loving children. She was 84.
Doris was born on January 10, 1941, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Emmit and Mattie Lunsford. A proud Claremore native, Doris was crowned Miss Claremore in 1959, a title she treasured throughout her life.
She met the love of her life, Woodrow “Woody” Edward Norwood, on their first day of college in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. From that moment on, they were inseparable. Married for 60 beautiful years, Doris and Woody built a life rooted in love, laughter, and faith. Woody preceded her in death in January of 2021.
A woman of deep faith, Doris was a cornerstone member of Abiding Harvest United Methodist Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Her warm heart, welcoming spirit, and unwavering devotion to her church community left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Scott Norwood and his wife Ashley, and Nancy Rogers and her husband Mike. She was a proud grandmother to Elizabeth Evans, Zachary Coppenger, Matthew Coppenger, and Paitlynn, Adelyn, Deacon, and Margot Ray. Doris also delighted in her role as a great-grandmother to Paxton and Payton Evans.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Emmit and Mattie Lunsford; her sisters, Lola "Louise" Ward and Lilian Andrews; and her nephew, Wes Ward.
She is also lovingly remembered by her extended family: niece Michelle Wilson and husband Jon, nephew Wade Ward and wife Pam, nephew Will Ward, niece Traci Merangue, nephew Steffan Anderson, niece Sarah Boren and husband Scott, nephew Joshua Anderson, and her dear sister-in-law Charlotte Anderson and husband Greg.
Doris Ann Norwood was a proud Christian, a loving mother, and an extraordinary grandmother. Her legacy of faith, love, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
A visitation to come and pay your respects to Doris, will be held on Thursday, July 24th from 4:00PM till 7:00PM. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, July 25th at 10:00AM at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens where we will lay Doris to rest.
