Shipman, Doris' Obituary
Heaven’s gathering got a little more feisty as Doris Shipman made her way to Jesus on June 28th. At the well-earned age of 91, she spent her final moments surrounded by family, which was her absolute favorite place to be.
She was bold, determined, and incredibly resourceful and creative. But the hallmarks of her life were Faith, Family, and Hospitality. She took great joy in creating experiences and gatherings for others; even if just for one she knew how to make someone feel welcomed, celebrated, and cherished.
Born on October 5th, 1934 as Doris Eleanor Hagood in Wellsville, Missouri she was given a fiery spirit by her Creator. She was born to William Henry Thuel and Ethel Mae Hagood. As the youngest of 8, she had 7 brotherly mentors who taught her how to get into trouble as well as advocate for herself and an older sister to keep her tender.
After marrying Jim Shipman they spent their lives as entrepreneurs, operating motels, convenience stores, and condominiums over the years. Their union was a testament to diligence, dedication, and enduring love. These were traits that Doris carried on in her meaningful life. She is survived by their daughter, Pamela Fuller, as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews. Family meant the world to “Aunt Do”.
A celebration of her life and memory will be held on July 11th, 2:00 pm at Floral Haven’s Rose Chapel.
