Dororthy Evelyn Capps' Obituary
Dorothy was born March 10, 1929 to William and Florence Copeland in Nashville, Arkansas. She graduated Nashville High School in 1948; directly followed by Capital City Business College. She was working for an insurance company in Little Rock, when she was called home to help care for her older sister Ettie, who had leukemia. She took a job as a librarian and, also drove the book mobile. She met her future husband, Claude Capps, at church. In 1954, they married and she gained a daughter, Judy. They lived the nomads' life for Claude's work on an oil and gas pipeline. In 1955, Becky was born and they needed a more stable lifestyle; so, chose Tulsa as their permanent home. She went to work at Oral Roberts Evangelistic Association, as a key punch operator. She had found her work home, which she enjoyed and stayed for 30 years. In 1957 and 1960, Debbie and Susie, increased the size of the family. After retiring from OEA, she became a "Stanley" dealer and started a more outgoing and fun time of life. With her ladies of "Stanley", she traveled to New York, New Orleans, and many more interesting places close to home.
She passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on October 26, 2023. She was preceded in death by father and mother - William and Florence Copeland, husband - Claude C. Capps, sister - Ettie, and brothers - M.J. and William Paul Copeland. She is survived by sisters - Ruthie Barnes, Deronda Godfrey, and brother - Wayne Copeland all of Nashville; daughters, Judy and husband Ignacio Esparza of California, Becky Boyle of Arizona, Debbie and husband David Heath of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Susie Fields of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and grandchildren Johnny, Mandi, Josh, - Scott, Travis, - Angie, Becca, Elizabeth - Chris, and Amanda, as well as, their much-loved spouses and children.
Services and internment were held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, November 01, 2023, at Veteran's Field of Honor Phase II Pad, Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
