Maureen Brown
Dorothea Mahtilda Kaufmann, known by her family and friends as Dora, was born Aug 1, 1925 in Chicago, IL. Her parents were Jean H. Kaufmann and Dorothea L. Korner Kaufmann both from Germany. She had one sister Judith Kaufmann Hoffman (that always confused Me, Maureen, when I was little!) She had one nephew, Richard Hoffman. She lived in Chicago until she went to nursing school in Denver, Co. It was there she met Jim Malone. He was taking her nursing school graduation photgraphs. The story goes that he told her she was the woman he was going to marry. She went back to her room, fell on the bed laughing to her room mate that silly Jim Malone thought he was going to marry her. She said he was "the devil in disquise trying to lure her away from her religion". Something must have changed along the way because they were married May 25, 1947. Dora and Jim lived in Denver, had two beautiful and talented daughters, Maureen (known as Mimi) and Sheila. They lived in Denver until 1962 when Jim was transfered to the state of Oklahoma. Dora cried and said no one moves to OK, they only move away. They ended up loving the state with all the Indian culture and they made many friends. Maureen married and had three sons, Sean, Eric , and Matthew Brown. Sheila married and had one son Forrest Malone. Dora had six great grandchildren, Shea, Chloe, and Christopher Brown, Molly Malone, and Adrian and Brayden Taber. She was loved by many people and will be geatly missed.
