Dorothy Carey's Obituary
Dorothy Carey, 93 of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed from this life on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at her residence. She was born May 1, 1925 to the late Joseph Francis Kirkman and Ina Evelyn Watson Kirkman.Dorothy was a secretary for the Salvation Army for many years where she loved her work and what the Salvation Army stood for. She enjoyed cross stitch, painting wood projects that her late husband made and loved all to do all sorts of other crafts.Dorothy is survived by two brothers, Richard Kirkman of Prattville, Alabama and Edward Kirkman of Cumming, Georgia; an adopted daughter, Barbara Butler of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandson, Michael Carey of Prattville, Oklahoma; caregiver and friend, Donna Remer of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and several nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ina Kirkman; husband, Morris Stanton Carey; son, Stan Carey; and sister, Evelyn Millican.Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia with Lt. Col. David Jeffrey officiating.The family has requested memorials be made to the Salvation Army in Dorothy’s honor.
