Dorothy Edith Holder's Obituary
Dorothy Edith Holder passed away Friday, October 28, 2016. at Tulsa, OK. Dorothy was devoted to her son and his family, who are comforted knowing that she is reunited in death with her husband Glenn (Sr.) her parents and five siblings, and is now celebrating the moment with her Lord and Savior.Dorothy will be remembered for the courage and dignity she showed in living with a number of chronic illnesses. Her courage is an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.She was preceded in death by her father and mother, William and Lucy Craun, her three brothers: Donald Craun, Harry Craun, and Jack Craun and her sister/confidant Mable Ann Blair.Dorothy is survived by her son Glenn Holder and his wife Beth. two grandsons and their wives: Scott and Shari Holder, Clay and Amanda Holder, four Great Grandchildren: Lauren Holder, William Holder, Avery Holder and Alex Holder Nieces and nephews, a dear friend and care giver and many dear friends at University Village Retirement Center.She was born on January 21, 1923. at Edmond, Ok, She lived at Luther Oklahoma until the age of 19. There she met and later married Glenn Holder, a soldier with the 45th Army Division. The couple were married on April 22, 1940, just before Glenn was transferred to New York for overseas staging. Glenn did not have time to buy a wedding ring for her and later bought one in New York and mailed it to her. Their wedding day was the last day they were together until Glenn returned home at the end of World War II, Spring, 1945. While Glenn was away she worked on the fabrication line for The Douglas Aircraft Company. Upon Glenn’s return they lived in Oklahoma City, later Jones and Tulsain the 1950’s, Dorothy returned to work and joined the John A. Brown Company retail department store chain. While there, she worked her way up to the position of Human Resources Manager. She later became a cosmetic sales person for Browns. During her career, she was a champion for fairness and recognized, and supported the disadvantagedDorothy will be long remembered for her vitality, and genuine interest in life and people, and her love for her family. She always had kind words for anyone she came in contact with.Viewing will be at Floral Haven Funeral Home, Monday, October 30th, from 9am until 8pm. A memorial will be held at 10:00 am. on Tuesday, November 1st, at University Village Retirement Center, 8555 South Lewis Tulsa, OK 74137. burial will immediately follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens, Midwest City, OK.
