Dorothy King's Obituary
Dorothy Jane King, 93, of Bixby, Oklahoma, passed away April 27, 2019. She was born August 9, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan, to William Frederick and Gladys Marie Demske. After growing up in Michigan, Dorothy received her bachelors degree in library science from Eastern Michigan University, where she was a member of TriSigma sorority. She resided in Las Cruces, New Mexico for 35 years and retired as the Head Circulation Librarian at New Mexico State University. After retirement, Dorothy moved to Oklahoma to be closer to her children and was a member of Joy Lutheran Church in Tulsa. She spent her final years residing at Covenant Place of Tulsa, in Bixby, Oklahoma. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Eleanor Hasse, and her brother William K. Demske. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Christine A. Thompson and husband Garland Thompson, of Broken Arrow and her son, James W King, and wife, Beverly E. King, of Houston, Texas. She had five grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.A memorial service for family and friends is planned for May 25, 2019, at 4 PM. The service will be held at Joy Lutheran Church in Tulsa. In lieu of flowers, Dorothy requested memorials be gifted to Joy Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice
