Dorothy Mae McCarty's Obituary
Dorothy McCarty was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother with a steadfast faith in God. She was compassionate and had a unique way of instilling that compassion in others. She often thought of others before herself. Involving herself in her family’s activities, she served as a Sunday School teacher, volunteer, seamstress, chaperon, or whatever role might be fitting. She was always driven to excellence and sought to draw that from others, as well. She enjoyed being outside and loved gardening and plants. Plant nurseries would always draw her in, and her home always had a variety of plants both inside and out. Upon moving to Tulsa, she and her husband, Jerry, transformed an already beautiful home and acreage into a magnificent flowering, blossoming garden of paradise. She also enjoyed cooking. From her own garden, she would make strawberry jam and rhubarb pie and bread. Aside from wonderful meals, she would bake the best cakes, pies, and apple dumplings. Frozen treats were no obstacle, either, featuring such things from popsicles to homemade ice cream. When her son Scott started attending school, she pursued an education in cosmetology, and operated her own beauty shop, “Dorothy’s Magic Mirror,” for several years. Her shop was quite successful, and found her working sometimes from early in the morning to late at night.Dorothy lived an exemplary life, full of happiness, joy, tales, and stories. She will be dearly missed, but her life gave birth to the fondest of memories for her loved ones.
