Dorothy Jean Sachau's Obituary
Dorothy Jean Sachau was born October 6, 1929 in Lake Mills, Iowa the daughter of Ester and Art Fjone. The family later moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where Dorothy graduated from high school. Dorothy was the second daughter, with an older sister and three younger sisters. She moved to Denver, Colorado where she met and married William (Bill) Henry Sachau. They had three children. Dorothy was a charter member of Fellowship Lutheran Church. She was an active member of the church quilters group, which has provided innumerable quilts to organizations such as Family and Children’s Services, Oaks Indian Children’s Home and Habitat for Humanity. She was a PEO and a member of the Ladies Auxillary of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Dorothy enjoyed cooking and celebrating her Scandanavian heritage through food. She loved to travel, especially to visit family and friends. She was an avid reader and enjoyed needlework. Dorothy, 83, passed away Sunday, July 28th, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was preceeded in death by her husband, parents and younger sister, Betty. She is survived by three sisters, Eileen Hanson of Northville, Michigan, Lorraine Sucich, and her husband Lou, of Orlando, Florida, and Sheryl Fjone, of Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is also survived by her children and their spouses, Christy and George Fleischmann of Grand Prairie, Texas, Susan and Gary Kruse of Tulsa, OK and Eric Sachau of Tulsa, OK. Services will be held Thursday, August 1st, at 10:00 at Fellowship Lutheran Church, 6727 S. Sheridan Road. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fellowship Lutheran Quilters or to the charity of your choice.
