Dorris Marie Greer-Housel, age 93 of Tulsa, Oklahoma, was a faithful Christian and left us to be with Jesus on May 28, 2022. She was born to Earl Vester and Ruby Belle Shields on April 14, 1929, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was the wife of Russell Housel who predeceased her in 2013.
Dorris is survived by her two children, Randy Greer and wife Debbie of Owasso, Oklahoma and Marla Greer-Slater and husband Rick Slater of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Her four grandchildren are, Chad Greer and wife Denise of Fountain Valley, Arizona; Christopher Greer and wife Kate of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Angela Plumlee and husband Patrick of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and Amber Pebworth and husband Dixie II of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Dorris loved people and her pet poodles throughout her life. She was multi-talented and creative in so many ways. She loved to act and performed in plays with the Tulsa Little Theatre in the 1960’s. She also was a sculptor creating a variety of faces and fish as a hobby and could create beautiful silk flower arrangements. She wrote and sang her own music. She went professional under the name of Dallas Carlyle in the 1970’s as a booking agent and manager of country music performers.
She and her husband, Russ, lived their retirement years in Sarasota, Florida and thoroughly enjoyed it. Dorris was loved by all her family and many friends, and she loved us. She will be greatly missed.
Celebration of life will be at God's Shining Light Church, 9897 E 11th St, Tulsa, OK 74128 on Saturday June 4 at 12:00pm.
