Dorris Jeanne Long's Obituary
Dorris Jeanne Long, 87, passed from Earth to Heaven on Sunday, November 8, 2015 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Dorris was born September 2, 1928, in Dix, Illinois, the only child of Lonnie and Beulah May. She was a graduate of Centralia High School, in Centralia, Illinois. In 1950 she married Eddie Long and raised sons Doug and David. She was retired as treasurer of Union Public Schools. She was a member of Cedar Ridge Christian Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She was a former member of the Dix, Illinois chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed participating in Sassy Red Hat Sooners, several Bible study groups, Bunco group, water aerobics class at the YWCA, and was coordinator of the J.O.Y. (Just Older Youth) group which started at East Tulsa Christian Church and continues to meet. She was preceded in death by husband Eddie and was loved and will be remembered by sons Doug and wife Paula of Granbury, Texas, and David and wife Teri of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, grandchildren Kelly Freedman and husband Rob of Coppell, Texas, Zachary Long of Austin, Texas, Jacob Long and wife Dani of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Joey Long of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, great-grandchildren Noah, Zoe and Mia Freedman of Coppell, Texas, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Services will be held Friday, November 13, 10:00 AM at Cedar Ridge Christian Church, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends Thursday, November 12, 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Cedar Ridge Christian Church.
