Douglas McCartney's Obituary
Douglas Ray McCartney, 80, of Tulsa, passed away peacefully on February 2nd, 2023. Born June 7th, 1942 in Clay Center, Kansas, he was adopted by Verna Sexson and Ray McCartney at the age of 2. Living on a farm at the city limits of Clay Center, he spent his youth reading comics at his parents' Five and Dime store in town. He graduated from Kemper Military School in 1960 and went on to serve 6 years in the Army National Guard as a Combat Engineer and Military Policeman. He moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, with wife, Linda Rey Danielson McCartney, in the late 1960s. For the next 4 decades he established his career as a salesman in home improvements. An avid golfer and bowler, he participated in several bowling leagues with Linda. He passed on his love of Chevrolets and sports cars to his son, Mike McCartney. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Tammy McCartney, and their two children Evan and Elizabeth; sister-in-law Jo Anne Anderson and her two children Kyle and Kyston. He is proceeded in death by his parents, wife, infant son, and brother-in-law, Roger Anderson. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Clarehouse.
