Douglas LeRoy Young's Obituary
Young Douglas LeRoy, 52, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend passed away suddenly February 23, 2009, in Broken Arrow, OK. He was born on December 12, 1956, to Charles and Dolly Ann Young in Pomona, CA. He is survived by his wife, Ronda Young of Broken Arrow, OK; children, Jeremy (Vikki and their son Phoenix), Joshuah, and Khyra; brothers, David (Brenda and their children Christopher and Keely) and Dan (Pam and their son Trevor); and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dolly Ann Young, and sister, Deborah Schwaighofer. Doug worked with IBM for 20 years ending his career as a Certified Education Specialist and Facilitator working as a trainer in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He previously worked for Amoco, PriceWaterHouse Coopers, Oklahoma Natural Gas, among others. Doug was Yeoman 2nd Class in the United States Navy. He performed in the Presidential Honor Guard and was an Administrative Assistant, supervising Armed Services personnel for use in the Presidential Honor Guard/Drill Teams; and reported directly to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Doug’s greatest love was his family. Doug enjoyed taking pictures of family and at the Broken Arrow Pride and school activities. He enjoyed taking family vacations and being with his children and grandson Phoenix. He counted his in-laws, Don and Jorja Ezzell, as his second parents, and his brother-in-law Rodney (deceased) as a brother, and honorary father to his children. Doug had many friends and relatives and always tried to be there when needed. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He was an avid bowler, who passed on his knowledge to all three of his children. He was heavily involved in the Claremore and Broken Arrow squadrons of Civil Air Patrol for many years with his son Joshuah. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 27, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Broken Arrow. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Floral Haven Cemetery. The entire Young family would like to express our gratitude and sincere appreciation for all the support we have received from family and friends.
