Duane Clayton Treat's Obituary
Duane Clayton Treat passed away on January 9, 2022, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 85. Duane was born to James and Lillie Treat on September 13, 1936, in Mountain home, Arkansas. He attended Mountain Home High School where he and his twin brother Wayne played football, basketball, and baseball. They were also active in the school FFA Chapter. Duane attended Arkansas Tech and the University of Arkansas where he earned a degree in Industrial Engineering. He was a Registered Professional Industrial Engineer in Oklahoma.
Duane met Joyce Sherman in 8th grade and they started dating as High School Juniors. They married on September 5, 1957. They were true soulmates and partners in their life together until Joyce passed away in 2019.
After college Duane worked as an Industrial Engineer for several companies, first in Fort Smith, Arkansas, then in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In 1977 He and Joyce started a home building company, Treat Homes, which they operated in Tulsa and Broken Arrow until they retired. They lived in a Treat Built home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Duane was a fisherman. During grade school with his father and brothers, he caught Perch in local creeks. They fished in the new lakes near Mountain Home, Norfork, and Bull Shoals. In high school he dreamed of someday owning a boat. Duane got his boat, became a competitive bass fisherman, then a recreational fisherman, and then a gentleman fisherman. Some of his best friends were fishermen. Many of his fish stories were true.
Duane and Joyce joined the Broken Arrow Heritage United Methodist Church in 2007. Duane used his business and building experience to help the Church with numerous projects. He and Joyce sought out those in need to give them a helping hand. Duane loved the Church and all of his many friends there.
Duane is survived by brother and sister-in-law Clyde and Juanita Treat and family, sister-in-law June Treat and family, and many friends.
Graveside services will be held at 1pm on Monday, January 17 at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
