Earl Ash's Obituary
Earl W. Ash was born June 12, 1921, in Ozark, Christian County, Missouri, to John William Ash and Ada (Cox) Ash. His father was a coal miner and farmhand. His mother was a homemaker and a mother to their six children.
While growing up in Catoosa, OK, Pauline Simpkins lived nearby. They married on July 12, 1943, in Claremore, Rogers County, OK. Pauline was an ordained minister and they enjoyed 63 years together before her passing on November 17, 2005. Four children were born to them: Earline Ash Rogers (deceased), Danny Lee Ash (Deceased), Ronnie Dale Ash, Sondra Ash Davidson. There are also six grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Earl attended Catoosa Public Schools. He serviced in the U.S. Army for four years during WWII and as a result, is a disabled war Veteran. He then worked at Douglas Aircraft Company for many years before retiring in 1985.
Earl’s wife Pauline was an ordained Assemblies of God minister and Earl and his family often played and sang as guests of Assemblies and other Pentecostal churches. He not only sang, but also played guitar, steel guitar, and fiddle. He was a musician, golfer, bowler, motorcyclist, and OU football fan. It Was For You is his favorite song. He traveled extensively across the United States; he especially loved Las Vegas.
He is a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), honored supported of the Wings of Eagles and the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. Earl is a real jokester. He was always “pulling someone’s leg” or kidding them. His wife would slap him on the arm and say, “Earl, quit it!” He loved being a part of the “Greatest Generation!” He is a proud WWII Veteran, enjoys reading his Bible and keeping up with the news.
His words of wisdom: “Depend on the Lord. Put all your trust and faith in Him!”
