Earl LeRoy Jenkins' Obituary
Earl LeRoy Jenkins was born March 8, 1931 in St Joseph, Missouri, the second child, and only son of Howard Boston and Hilda Cassady Jenkins. Earls mother died when he was five years old and he and his sister, Virginia, were raised by their Grandparents. His Grandfather was a Baptist Preacher so Earl was involved with churches and a follower of Jesus Christ since childhood.
After high school Earl attended two years of college before enlisting in the United States Air Force. He served for two years as an aircraft mechanic. Following his honorable discharge he worked at the Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta, Georgia, again as a mechanic.
By the early 1960s Earl was back in Missouri and during an outing at the lake in Noel, Missouri he met Mary B. Organ. Mary was living in Rogers, Arkansas but Missouri suddenly looked better. They married on November 20, 1962 and had been married for 64 years at the time of Earl's death. They were blessed with a single child, a daughter--Mary Ann.
Earl lived in a variety of places including Missouri, Georgia, Arkansas, and finally Oklahoma which has been his home for a number of years. Earl supported his family by working as a mechanic, if it had a motor he could fix it. He worked in several different garages and in a few Auto Centers at Frougs, Goodyear, and Sears. He was never afraid of work and always gave every job the best that he had.
Earl was forced into an early retirement following a series of heat strokes that put too much pressure on his heart. Retirement required some adjustments, but Earl refused to just sit and watch life go by. He loved and doted on his grandchildren. He exercised by dancing-especially Square Dancing, and continued his lifelong habit of fishing and hunting. Still, his favorite activity always revolved around his grandkids, nephews and nieces--and anyone else that he considered family.
Earl was a committed Christian, actively practicing his faith for the last thirteen years as a member of Belview Baptist Church--his Grandfather would be
proud, and I know that his Savior, Jesus Christ, would say "Well done, thou good and faithful Servant".
Earl passed away on Wednesday morning, April 2, 2025 at the age of 94.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, and a Great-Grandson, Logan Mark Roberts.
He is survived by his wife, Mary B. Jenkins of Claremore; Daughter Mary Ann and her husband Tim Roberts of Claremore; Grandson Justin and his wife Katherine, Granddaughter Sterling and her husband Jeremiah, and Great-Grandchildren Bruce, Avery, and Aspen. Sister-in-law, Terri Hudson, as well as many nephews and nieces and many, many friends.
Earl's Memorial Service will be held at Belview Baptist Church in Tulsa, on Friday, April 18th, 2025, at 11:00am.
