Eddie Louise Guthrie's Obituary
Eddie Louise Guthrie went to be with her Lord July 20, 2023 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She began her life September 12, 1942 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Bonnie Louise and James Ray Chapman. Eddie graduated from Glenpool High School in 1960 and finished Cosmetology School and passed her board exams in 1960. She opened her own business, Town and Country Beauty Salon, in Glenpool, Oklahoma. She continued working there until October 20, 1963 when she married Donald Gene Guthrie from Jenks, Oklahoma. She built a new salon in Jenks where they lived.
Eddie had many interests and talents. She enjoyed painting, ceramics, camping, sitting by the beach and raising Shetland Sheepdogs. Her most recent Sheltie companion was named Kiwi.
Eddie loved to travel. She traveled everywhere from Europe to the Tropics, to Hawaii, and the Caribbean.
Her life experiences of running her own business and all of her travels made her the perfect person to work as a paraprofessional in the Tulsa Public School system with special education children for many years.
Eddie leaves behind a legacy of two loving sons: Sheldon N. Guthrie of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Dwain D. Guthrie and his wife, Traci Guthrie, of Grapevine, Texas and their children, Nicholas Guthrie, and Cooper Rae Guthrie; Her sister, Harriett Robinson and her husband, Lavern Robinson of Fletcher, Oklahoma. She also leaves behind many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by both parents and her husband.
