Edith Evelyn Smithwick's Obituary
Edith Evelyn Smithwick, a longtime resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2023, at the age of 71. She was born on June 1, 1952, in Hartford, Connecticut, and her legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Edith dedicated over two decades of her life to her work as a factory foreman in the oil and gas industry, where her dedication and strong work ethic left an indelible mark. While she never had children of her own, she showered her nieces with love and affection, treating them as if they were her own daughters. Her devotion to family was unwavering.
One of Edith's most cherished qualities was her incredible sense of humor and her perpetual happiness. She had a contagious laughter that could light up any room, and her outgoing and witty personality made her a joy to be around. She had a passion for shopping, especially when it came to hunting for antiques and bargains. Edith eagerly anticipated the holidays and cherished the time spent with her family during festive get-togethers.
Edith also enjoyed challenging her mind with crossword and jigsaw puzzles, finding solace and satisfaction in their intricate designs. Her love extended beyond humans; she adored her dogs and cat, who brought her comfort and companionship throughout her life.
Edith leaves behind her loving husband, Gary Englis, who stood by her side through thick and thin. She is also survived by her devoted sister, Lee-Ann Bartlett, and Lee-Ann's husband, Jeff. Edith's nieces, Erika Grisham and Kayla Bowden, were truly the apples of her eye, and she leaves them with a treasure trove of beautiful memories.
Edith's fur babies, who were more like family than pets, will undoubtedly miss her warmth and affection.
As we bid a fond farewell to Edith, we remember the joy she brought into our lives and the laughter that will forever echo in our hearts. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her spirit lives on in the memories we shared and the love she leaves behind.
Rest in peace, dear Edith. You will forever be cherished, never forgotten, and always loved.
