Edna Mae Griffin's Obituary
Edna Mae Griffin, age 93, passed this life and entered Heaven’s gates on February 24, 2025, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She entered this world on May 1, 1931, in Keefton, Oklahoma, Edna lived a full and vibrant life. She was a shining light for many people and will be deeply missed.
She enjoyed many hobbies, including gardening and fishing, which brought her great joy and relaxation. She also enjoyed spending time learning about her love for God, which was an important part of her life.
Edna attended Morris High School prior to starting her working career. For 14 years, Edna served as the bank teller supervisor at First Bank of Owasso, where she was known for her dedication, kindness, and exceptional service. Her colleagues and customers alike admired her work ethic and warm personality.
A devoted member of the Broken Arrow Church of Christ, Edna cherished her time spent in worship and fellowship. She had a passion for singing and was known for her unique ability to yodel, a talent that delighted many. Coming from a musically inclined family, Edna's love for music was a significant part of her life.
A part of Ednas life that was the most significant was with the love of her life Donald Griffin, whom most knew as Don. The two spent many years with each other and were able to make lasting and loving memories prior to Don’s passing. Due to the fact that Edna and her husband, Don, were unable to have children they pretty much adopted all of their nieces and nephews on both sides of their family. When those kids were playing football, wrestling, baseball, or cheering on the sidelines, there Don and Edna would be in the stands rooting their adopted kids on. Both Edna and Don were avid OU fans and held season football tickets for many years. Edna kept up with her Sooners on T.V. or on the radio for many years after she lost Don.
Of the many nurses, hospice workers and support staff at Senior Suites who had any contact with Edna Mae over the last few years, each and every one of them used the same term to describe her – “She was the sweetest patient they ever had”. She had sung a song or yodeled to every one of them at one time or another. A special thanks goes out to all of those who cared for her over the years; with a special thanks to LaDawn Cato who loved Edna and was with her when she passed.
Edna's legacy is one of love, kindness, and joy. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
She is preceded in death by her husband Donald Lee Griffin; parents John Morris Edwards and Gracie Mae (Gamblin) Edwards; siblings Eugene Edwards, Vera Louise Gay, Verna Marie Gay, and Shirley Stotts. Left to cherish her memory is her sister Virginia Johnson; brother Harold Edwards; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
