Edna Jean Wegener Ham's Obituary
Edna Jean Wegener Ham, age 89, of Tulsa, OK died May 01, 2014. Jean was born on March 21, 1925 in Minco, OK, the 4th of 6 children born to Edward and Rose Wegener. She graduated from Minco High School in 1943. She attended Oklahoma College for Women and Oklahoma State University. She married Laneer Ham of Stillwater on September 28, 1946. They had two children, Richard and Susan, and moved during his 35 year career with Gulf Oil Corp. to Hobbs, New Mexico; Tulsa; Denver; London, England; Pittsburgh, PA; Woodland Hills, CA; and Houston, Texas. Jean was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, the P.E.O. Sisterhood, the Questers and the National Society of Decorative Painters. She loved to sew, paint, play bridge and study the Bible. She had a loving spirit, adored her family and loved her friends. Her bright spirit and positive attitude inspired all who knew her. In 1987, she acquired a new name-Grandma. She adored her two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Kristen. As a full-time mother and homemaker, she dedicated her life to her family and children. She succeeded in creating a loving and warm atmosphere for her family. She will be missed, but forever be remembered for loving kindness, generosity and endless devotion to her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Clenard Wegener and twin brothers, Willis and Kenneth Wegener and a nephew, Alan Fields. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Laneer; son, Richard of Poulsbo, Washington; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Barry Oyler of Tulsa; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Galegar and husband, Chris of Owasso and Kristen Oyler and fiancé, Gary Fennema of Tulsa; a sister, Rosemary Fields of St. Louis; one brother, Raymond Lee Wegener and wife, Peggy of Minco; one sister-in-law, Tillie Wegener Bush of Oklahoma City; 15 nieces and nephews and 29 great-nieces and nephews, and many great-great-nieces and nephews and a host of friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Methodist Women of Asbury United Methodist Church, 767 S. Mingo, Tulsa, OK.
