Edward O. Allen's Obituary
The Lord called Ed home on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with his family by his side.Ed was born July 7, 1928, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, son of Harry Webb “Peck” and Vera Alberta “Bertie” Allen. He grew up in the Red Fork area with his three brothers, J.W. Allen, Glen Harry “Peck” Allen, and Marion Eugene “Gene” Allen, deceased.Ed graduated from Daniel Webster High School in 1946, and shortly after he met and married his sweetheart and life-long partner, Mary Ann Chambers on November 7, 1947. Ed and Ann were blessed with three sons, Wayne, Jim, and Gary.After Ed and Ann were married a few years, Ed went to work for Southwestern Bell in 1950 and retired from Southwestern Bell after thirty-five years in 1985.Ed was a life long Chicago Cubs fan and spent many Spring seasons in Yuma, Arizona, traveling to Mesa, Arizona, for the Cubs Spring training games. Ed and Ann loved to travel across the country in their RV with their beloved dog, Taffy. He was a member of First Baptist Church Jenks, a 32nd Degree Mason and a Grand Master of the Red Fork Masonic Lodge 505. In his later years, he was great with crossword and jigsaw puzzles and loved woodworking making many cherished piecesEd is preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother, Gene. He is survived by two brothers, J.W. Allen of Ooltenwah, Tennessee, and Glenn Harry “Peck” Allen of Tulsa; his loving wife of seventy-one years, Mary Ann of Tulsa, his three sons, Wayne and his wife Beverly of Tulsa, Jim of Tulsa, and Gary and his wife Mary of Broken Arrow, OK. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Brandee Tonnessen and her husband Tim of Stavanger, Norway, Abby Rosenthal and her husband Rich of Arlington, Texas, Emily Shunatona and her husband Bat of Tulsa, Aaron Allen and his wife Kendra of Broken Arrow, OK, Kristy Wingerter and her husband John of Tulsa, and Ashley Shope and her husband Jake of Tulsa. He is also survived by twelve great grandchildren: Noah, Bryce, and Becca Allen, Mary Margaret Rosenthal, Lexi and Lillian Tonnessen, Mark and Kate Wingerter, Ethan and Adam Glynn, Colin and Brooklyn Shope, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends and loved ones
