Edward Herndon's Obituary
Edward Herndon, 96, resident of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma passed away May 24, 2019. Edward was born November 12, 1922 in Fowler, Colorado to Edward Goin Herndon and Ella Maggie (Stapleton) Herndon who was homesteading a “Dry Land” farm in Eastern Colorado. The family moved to Chandler, Lincoln County, Oklahoma when Edward was about 2 years old. Edward attended Chandler Public Schools all 12 years and graduated in 1940. He played in the band at school for six years. Edward married Coralee Downs on May 16, 1947. Their marriage was blessed by two children, Vicki Lynn and Edward Neal. Edward served in World War II in the Army Air Corp for three years; and later served 18 months in Iran under Persian Gulf Command. Edward was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. he will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.Edward is preceded in passing by his parents, three brothers, two sisters and his daughter, Vicki Lynn. Edward is survived by his wife, Coralee Herndon; son, Edward Neal Herndon and his wife, Annie (Crawford) Herndon; grandchildren, Brooke Marton and Travis and Marshall Herndon and his wife Lacey (Wisinger) Herndon.Visitation will be 5-7 pm, Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Floral Haven Funeral Home.Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm, Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at First Baptist Church Broken Arrow.
